By using Prick ("the App"), you agree to the following terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the App. The App is intended for adults managing or monitoring glucose and is not designed for pediatric care or for use as the sole tool for managing a child's diabetes.

Not Medical Advice

Prick is a personal tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The metrics, classifications, reference ranges, and educational content in the app are for informational purposes only and are derived from published medical literature. They are not a substitute for professional medical judgment.

Always consult your healthcare provider before making decisions about your health based on information displayed in this app. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.

Emergency Situations

Prick is not designed for emergency use. If you experience symptoms of severe hypoglycemia (such as confusion, seizure, sweating, or loss of consciousness) or hyperglycemic crisis (such as severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, fruity breath, or difficulty breathing), do not consult or rely on this app. Contact emergency services or your healthcare provider immediately. Notifications, reminders, alerts, and computed insights in the app are informational only and may be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable at any time. The app does not monitor your glucose in real time and cannot detect or warn of an emergency.

In-App Acknowledgements

When you first launch the App, you are required to acknowledge a medical disclaimer and a summary of this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Your acknowledgement is recorded locally on your device, including the date of acknowledgement and the version of each document. By continuing to use the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms. If the developer materially updates the disclaimer, Privacy Policy, or Terms of Service, you may be asked to re-acknowledge them before continuing to use the App.

Free Application

Prick is provided free of charge with no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no advertising. This may change in the future, but any free features at the time of download will remain free.

Data Responsibility

Your data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via iCloud. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data. The developer is not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, software updates, or any other cause. You can export your data at any time from the app's Settings.

Accuracy

Glucose readings depend on the accuracy of your meter hardware and your testing technique. Prick displays data as received from your Bluetooth-connected device or as manually entered by you. The developer does not guarantee the accuracy of any reading, calculation, or derived metric. Computed metrics (GMI, Time in Range, MAGE, etc.) are estimates based on available data and published formulas.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Prick and its developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to any health decisions made based on information displayed in the app.

Bluetooth Compatibility

Prick supports glucometers that implement the standard Bluetooth SIG Glucose Profile (GATT). Not all Bluetooth-enabled meters are compatible. Compatibility is limited to meters that follow this standard profile, and the developer does not guarantee compatibility with any specific device or future device firmware updates.

Your Data

You retain full ownership of any data you create, log, or import into the App, including glucose readings, meal records, custom food tags, person profiles, experiment data, and personal notes. The developer does not claim any license over this data and cannot access it. Your data remains on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your personal iCloud private database. You may export or delete your data at any time from the App's Settings.

Third-Party Devices and Trademarks

Prick is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to Roche, Accu-Chek, Abbott, Dexcom, LifeScan, or any other glucometer or medical device manufacturer. All product names, trademarks, and registered trademarks mentioned in this App, its documentation, or on the accompanying website are the property of their respective owners. References to specific devices are descriptive only and indicate technical compatibility with the standard Bluetooth SIG Glucose Profile.

Intellectual Property

The App, its source code, design, user interface, branding, and educational content (including the in-app learning library, glossary, clinical formula derivations, layered citation system, and the accompanying website's articles and documentation) are the intellectual property of the developer and are protected by copyright and applicable trademark law. The "Prick" name and any associated logos are trademarks of the developer. You may not copy, modify, distribute, publicly display, scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of any part of the App or its accompanying website content without the developer's prior written permission. Personal, non-commercial use of the App as intended is permitted; all other rights are reserved.

Availability

The developer may update, modify, or discontinue the app at any time without prior notice. There is no guarantee of continued availability or support.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bangalore, India. Notwithstanding the above, nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence where such rights cannot be waived by contract.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
